Australian Open: pierwszy triumf Wiktorii Azarenki w Wielkim Szlemie

Wiktoria Azarenka odniosła pierwsze zwycięstwo w Wielkim Szlemie, wygrywając Australian Open (pula nagród 26 mln dol. austral.). 22-letnia tenisistka z Białorusi pokonała w finale turnieju na twardych kortach w Melbourne Rosjankę Marię Szarapową 6:3, 6:0. W drodze do finału Azarenka pokonała w ćwierćfinale Agnieszkę Radwańską.
